Only posting this tonight because I haven't really had a chance to post anything for over a month, or for that matter even pick up my camera. So I figured this was better than nothing, don't want to forget what I've already learned. So practice, practice, practice...LOL

Went out to see a little nature today, and came back with these two. To quote my Grandaughter,, "Without nature, there would be no beauty"

In the HEART of L.A

I meant to post this the other day. Our neighbor heard about this park in downtown Los Angeles of all places, on the Huell Howser Road Show. So we went there on Fathers Day week-end. I think this picture is a pretty good representation of the whole park. Couldn't believe it, it was just beautiful. The whole park was pretty much like this, dark and cool. Do you think I should've tried to lighten it up a little bit. TIA

The sun's reflection!

I liked the way the sun was coming through the fronds of the fern.

FINALLY! More than just greenery.

I'm not really sure why I even like this picture, other than the fact, the white is so white, and the green is so green.

A week at the Lake

We spent the week before Memorial Day at the Lake where I used to live. Hadn't really been there for about 2 years, it was a little bitter sweet. I moved there to be near my Mom, after my Dad and Husband both passed away. We had spent summers there as kids, and when Mom & Dad retired there, we took our kids. After Mom passed away, just couldn't be there anymore. An end of an era so to speak.

Rain drops.

The only thing there is to photograph around here is flowers. Well, it sprinkled a little here this morning, and I was excited to see the rain drops on the petals. No reflections caught, just rain drops.

Mother's Day Flowers

These are from my SO, and the multi-colored bouquet is from my youngest daughter and her hubby.

CAMPING @ VENTURA BEACH

This is just one of the sunset pix I tried to take on this outting. I took so many of them, but I think this might be a good example

Thought this might be a good one as an example of framing for the composition practice. Am I getting close??

A Day At The Beach

We decided to get out of the house today, (cabin fever setting in). We drove down to Ventura Beach, mainly for picture taking. Not great pictures, just trying to figure out the different settings. Current problem is....I start taking pix, and forget to experiment with the settings!!!!

OK! I got my camera for X-mas, I was thrilled.
Shooting in AF, (a wonderful thing).
Then my oldest daughter says, " Mom, they're having this great photography class at 2Peas".
I start lurking around, OMG! they speak a totally foreign language here. Aperture, ISO, DOF, it goes on and on.
So I lurk, I read the threads, I join the classes, I ask ?'s.
Thus, the title for my blog. In theory I am learning so much, trying to put it altogether. But clinically, (well, let's just say, I have had a few "AHA" moments). Some have stayed put, and others have left quickly.
I am just shooting along, and hopefully on my journey, I will capture a few shots that even I can see an improvement in.

First attempts

This is just a first attempt at using my new camera.
